Founded in 1995, PHD Capital was purposely created to fill an important niche for the worldwide investment community. The future partners agreed that there were too few solid, smart U.S. equity investment services available to business owners of small and medium-sized companies, both domestic and abroad. To meet the needs of that underserved population, the three men, with synergistic talents and a common commitment to client satisfaction, got together to develop PHD Capital, an investment firm devoted to strategically bridging this gap between Wall Street and the worldwide investment community.

Our Management team boasts over a century of combined financial experience, and are ready to put their knowledge to work for you.

Jody Eisenman
Chief Executive Officer

Jody Eisenman, CEO of Perrin, Holden & Davenport Capital Corp., graduated from Brooklyn College in 1980 and from the New York University College of Business and Public Administration (now the Stern School of Business) in 1981. His distinguished career in finance began in the international banking area at Bank Leumi, where he worked as a financial analyst and showed a special aptitude for budgetary issues. His next position was at the world-respected Lehman Brothers, where he served as a financial and computer analyst.  There, Jody developed computer models for the company’s trading department.  As a problem-solver for various other departments, he became known and respected for his sound instincts and sharp intelligence.

In 1984, Lehman Brothers acquired Shearson/American Express, and Jody Eisenman joined the retail sales department, where he was appointed Vice President and then Senior Vice President.  Jody was a member of the Chairman’s and Director’s Council.  In 1994 he joined Oppenheimer & Company as Senior Vice President of retail sales.

In 1995, Jody and his longtime friend Nelson Braff formed Perrin, Holden and Davenport Capital Corp.

Jody Eisenman lives in Teaneck, New Jersey with his wife, Toby, their eight children, and a grandchild.  He is actively involved in several local charities.

Nelson Braff
President

Nelson Braff, Esq., co-founder and Executive Vice President of Perrin, Holden & Davenport Capital Corp. (“PHD Capital”) is an attorney with an extensive background in the world of finance. After graduating from Brooklyn College in 1980 with a B.A. in Economics, he entered Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his J.D. in 1982. Nelson practiced law for the next 15 years at several firms, including Certilman, Balin, Adler & Hyman; Jacobs, Zinns, Schneyer, & Braff, PC, and Braff & Michael, PC. His areas of expertise encompass real estate, entertainment and corporate law.

A consummate public speaker, Nelson’s hobby for years was stand-up comedy, and he performed at such high profile comedy clubs as Don’t Tell Mama, The Improv and Caroline’s. He and his longtime friend Jody Eisenman formed PHD Capital, a Wall Street brokerage and investment-banking firm, in 1995.

Active in numerous philanthropies, Mr. Braff co-founded the nonprofit “American Friends of Gifted Young Musicians,” to help nurture the musical gifts of talented but financially needy children internationally. He serves as board member of Surprise Lake Camp summer camp and charitable organization (where he was once a camper), and was honored by Chai Lifeline/Camp Simcha. Several of these youngsters are now on their way to becoming renowned musicians. Nelson is also extremely active in the Jaffa Institute, the Boy Scouts of America, and is a volunteer Assistant Fencing Coach at the Millennium High School in Manhattan. Presently, Nelson serves as the Treasurer for U.S. Congressman Anthony Weiner's congressional fundraising efforts as well as his fundraising for the 2009 New York City Mayoral election.

Peter Hoffman
Chief Financial Officer/Vice President

Peter Hoffman has an unusual background for a Chief Financial Officer. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Pete, at age 17, enlisted in the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific as a Nuclear Propulsion Engineer.

Six years later, Pete traded the ocean for the desert. He left the active Navy and enrolled in the University of Arizona, where, in 1987, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.   He then returned to New York City where he earned his CPA in 1993 and then set up his own accounting office in Manhattan, Peter Hoffman CPA.

Quickly earning a reputation as an outstanding Certified Public Accountant, Pete Hoffman soon attracted other accounting firms as clients, as well as individual business owners and professionals. Among those clients were his future partners, Jody Eisenman and Nelson Braff. The pair had recently launched Perrin, Holden & Davenport Capital Corp. They knew they needed a cutting edge CFO, and offered Pete the position. That was 1997 – the start of a highly successful three-way partnership, and friendship.
